Piece Description:

When a client approached us saying that she needed a "Noah's Ark Chandelier" for her barn -- but provided no other information -- we got to work. Collaborating with gallery represented artist Steve Bewely, we conceived a 4-foot long structure made almost entirely out of reclaimed, repurposed, and artist made materials.

The concept for the piece was to create an ark shaped chandelier covered with artist made paper that, when illuminated, would reveal the silhouettes of the client's favorite animals.

The skeleton for the ark was constructed from reclaimed steel from garage door rails, the animals were meticulously cut from sheets of copper, the paper was hand poured using cheese cloth, straw, and banana leaf, the roof was assembled using discarded wood scraps, and the fixture was hung using intertwined hemp rope.
